Darleen Wilkerson

Palm Springs, CA

Artist Bio

Whether on canvas or on cloth, making art for Darleen is fun. Since childhood she has been fascinated and enthralled by color and texture. She was drawn to bright colors in her early years and still gets satisfaction from creating works which come from this child-like place within her. Her mixed media paintings and batiks reflect this long love affair with color, texture and images from her creative child spirit. She lives in La Quinta and sells her work at Art on Main in Old Town La Quinta. She is a hanging artist at the Desert Art Center in Palm Springs where one of her works was chosen to be printed very large and it is currently hanging on the side of the building. She also sells at the Borrego Springs Art Institute and in numerous art shows throughout the area.

What kind of public art project do I want to work on?

I was one of 6 artist chosen to be in a 3 year Art in Public Places program in Lake Tahoe (when I lived there) to make art for public places. After two years our program morphed into Art in Public Schools. Additional more recently I was chosen by Palm Desert Art in Public Places to hang my work for two months.
